Test Results
Non-urgent advice: Getting your Test Results
Test results can take up to seven days to be returned to us :
If your test results show that you need more tests or treatment, we will contact you.
Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:
- in your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- in your SystmOnline account
You can also contact the surgery on 0113 2733733 after 10:00 am leaving at least one week after your test. This allows enough time for the results to come back from the laboratory.
Please do not ask a relative or friend to telephone the surgery on your behalf. Results will only be given to the patient and not to a patient’s representative (except in the case of children, or when prior written consent has been given for a carer to act on your behalf).
Non-urgent advice: Blood Tests
A blood test is when a sample of blood is taken for testing in a laboratory. Blood tests have a wide range of uses and are one of the most common types of medical test. For example, a blood test can be used to:
- assess your general state of health
- confirm the presence of a bacterial or viral infection
- see how well certain organs, such as the liver and kidneys, are functioning
You can find out more about blood tests, their purpose and the way they are performed on the Your choices in the NHS - NHS
If your GP has told you you need a blood test you can book an appointment at a local hospital https://www.leedsth.nhs.uk/services/community-diagnostic-centres/seacroft-cdc/what-services-we-offer-at-seacroft-and-when/
Or - Attend the surgery Blood Clinic on Tuesday morning between 7 and 11 am. Please note that this is a sit and wait service and may close early if capacity is reached .
Non-urgent advice: X-Rays
An X-ray is a test to examine the inside of the body. X-rays are a very effective way of detecting problems with bones, such as fractures. They can also often identify problems with soft tissue, such as pneumonia or breast cancer.
An X-ray is usually carried out by a radiographer, a healthcare professional who specialises in using imaging technology, such as X-rays and ultrasound scanners.
You can find out more about x-ray tests, how they are performed, their function and the risks by visiting the NHS Choices website.
You will need to be referred by your GP in most circumstances .
If you have troubling chest symptoms and are over 40 and have had symptoms for over three weeks, you can get a free chest X-ray without the need to see your GP https://www.leedsth.nhs.uk/services/radiology/self-direct-chest-x-ray-service/
